Situated
at the end of a quiet cul-de-sac, 22km south of Gaborone in the
Notwane area, this two bed roomed home also features a loft with
balcony, serving as a potential third bedroom. The house is
constructed of brick under thatch with generous natural light and
ventilation, provided by an array of panoramic meranti-framed,
security barred windows with railway sleeper lintels and
double-opening solid wood stable doors. An elevated open-plan
kitchen, that commands respect as the heart of the home, overlooks a
large lounge cum dining room. The loft is accessed via a feature
solid wood staircase ascending from the lounge area. Master bathroom
is situated between master bedroom and guest bedroom has a shower and
feature oval bathtub, toilet and hand wash basin with solid brass
fittings. The access passage to the bedrooms features large shatter
proof glazed, ground to lintel, non opening window that overlooks a
brick paved and shaded outdoor entertainment area and arboretum
garden. Master bedroom also has double opening stable doors leading
out to a private outdoor courtyard with fishpond and shaded by a
sturdy mopipi tree. Across the other side of the garden is a two
bedroom thatched cottage with shower and toilet en suite. The cottage
features another floor to lintel viewing window that faces its
counterpart in the main house. There are 12000 BTU air conditioners
in both the cottage and the lounge and another 8 000 BTU unit in the
master bedroom. To complement the house is an elevated swimming pool
with a deck and a thatched pool house that serves as additional
accommodation space, games room or secluded home office. The pool
and decked area enjoy an elevated position with views as far as Kgale
Hill northward above the valley of Crocodile pools and over the near
by Notwane Dam. An ample staff quarters and storerooms lie beyond the
main parking area and shade netted carport. The house is walled and
fenced in for security purposes and there is a security gate and
sensor lights. An alarm system is installed. Three phase BPC power
connected to the house and a centre point lightning conductor covers
and protects the main house and cottage area. The plot is 4.6644
hectares in extent and is mostly untouched indigenous woodland and
scrub that is perimeter fenced with goat and small livestock fencing.
The house is at the highest point on the land and is reached by a
dirt track. Water is provided by a borehole on the property with a
humble, but generally adequate, supply for domestic use. The
neighbors have a prolific borehole and there is a delivery pipe up to
the house. They have been supplying water at commercial rates (this
is subject to the new tenant negotiating the same or a similar deal
with the neighbors) There is also a 40 000 liter concrete open
reservoir on an elevated rise adjacent to the pool area. All in all a
unique property, best suited to those who love to have the room to
breathe. Here you can appreciate the huge wide spaces, that surely
is one of the true essences of living in Botswana. Yet have easy
access to the capital city and all that it offers. Please e-mail all enquiries to: thwhitney@yahoo.co.uk
